Since the blessed day of Friday has began, we need to increase our good deeds, one of the many good deeds we should engage in is sending Salat (Durood) upon our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .

We should send Salat (durood) upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ daily, and increase it especially on the day of Friday.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said “Increase your supplications for me on the day and night of Friday. Whoever blesses me once, Allah will bless him ten times.”

Reading the Sirah of the Prophet ﷺ time and time again helps us recognise his immense favours upon us. One way to show our gratitude is by frequently sending Salat (Durood) upon him.

Allah Ta’ala has also commanded the believers to send Salat upon his beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

“Surely, Allah and His angels send blessings to the Prophet. O you who believe, do pray Allah to bless him, and send your Salam to him in abundance”.

Allaamah Zarqaani رحمة الله writes in “Sharhul Mawaahib” that the main aim and purpose for reciting Durood should be to acquire the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala and obey His command, as well as fulfilling some of the rights we owe to Rasulullah ﷺ .

There are numerous benefits of sending Salat (Durood). Some of them are:
1) Following the command of Allah.
2) Receiving ten blessings from Allah.
3) Ten levels are raised for the servant.
4) Ten good deeds are written for the servant.
5) Ten sins are erased from the servant.
6) Du‘ā is accepted when preceded with salawāt upon the Prophet ﷺ.
7) Closeness to the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Judgement.
8) The servant’s name is presented to the Prophet ﷺ.
9) The servant’s feet will remain firm on the Sirat.
10) The intercession of the Prophet ﷺ.
