Ramadhan Reminder Day 12 (1447H/2026)

This hadith is especially relevant in today’s age of social media.

This hadith teaches us that it is very important to verify information before passing it on to others.

Out of carelessness, many of us share unverified information, which turns out to be incorrect.

We need to verify information regardless of whether it pertains to religious matters or not.
When sharing anything linked to our religion, extra precaution needs be taken.

If the Sahaba and the pious predecessors had not paid attention to verifying before narrating, the deen would not have reached us in its true form.

In this era, just as it is easy to share information, it is also easy to verify it—but due to carelessness, we often avoid doing so.

A few more reasons why we should ensure that we verify information before passing it on:

1) Protects one’s credibility and reputation. Trust is difficult to earn but can be very easily lost.
2) Reduces panic and confusion.
3) Protects one’s relationships. Many times, we make assumptions and act on them merely because of something we may have heard, which can damage our relationships and also leave us embarrassed when we realize the information was incorrect.
