Numerous benefits have been mentioned in the Quran and Ahadeeth regarding the zikr of Allah Ta’ala , but the following hadith will suffice to help us understand the lofty status this ibaadah holds.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Said : “Allah says: ‘I am just as My slave thinks I am, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.’ ” (Bukhari)
Allah Ta’ala saying he remembers us when we remember him is surely one of the greatest benefits. This benefit alone should motivate us to carry out the Zikr of Allah.
All the other Ibaadat of Allah have been given specific times, and specific ways in which it should be carried out, wheras the zikr of Allah has no specific time, or specific way. This is why it is very easy to carry out this deed.
Let us try to take out some time to engage in the zikr of Allah, so that we can gain the great merits that have been promised to us in the Quran & Ahadeeth.
